My Mother first took took me to church in her womb. I was a "comfortable" Christian. I had not heard of present-day healing through the power of the Holy Spirit. If I had been told, I wouldn't have believed it!! 
How to Heal - Hal's Story
In 1995, my wife was diagnosed with a condition called peripheral neuropathy. Essentially, the nerves in her legs, feet, arms and hands were withering. It was untreatable, according to the doctor. In early July, 1997, I went to the altar a for healing prayer for my wife, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church of the Voyager, in Coronado, CA. There, Harold & Ginny Weeks prayed with me for her. They suggested to me that my wife come to the healing classes at the church on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Harold said, "What do you have to lose?" I couldn't refute the logic. I sincerely wanted my wife to be healed.

That night, I suggested to my wife that she go to the class. While I didn't know it, within one day, two other persons in the church also suggested that she go. She went. I stayed home. When she came home, she woke me up to tell me that she saw strange things happening. She saw arms and legs changing length!! I found it hard to believe. However, I knew that she would not tell me something that 
was not true. The second week, she said that HER arms had moved!! It had happened while a person had PRAYED for her!! This was too much for me. I had to see what was going on!! 

At the next meeting, I was shocked and amazed by what I saw. By the power of hands-on prayer, calling upon Jesus and the Holy Spirit, people had their arms and legs shortened and lengthened. They fell down, under the power of the Holy Spirit. I couldn't believe it!! It was staggering to me!! No one I had ever known had said that this was possible, through Jesus. 

All through church as a youth, the Boy Scouts at church, and as an adult in church (I was then 56 years old) I had never even heard of the healing power of the Holy Spirit!! In August, I went back the second time. I started listening intently to what was being prayed. Each person said things a different way. It was disconcerting that I could find no one mantra or prayer that healed. Was there a pattern that called down the power of the Holy Spirit? There was!! 

I found that the healing class members would first call on the authority of Jesus Christ. Then, they would command the injured part of the body to be healed. There were different ways to describe the injury or sickness. There were different ways to command the body to be healed Sometimes specific systems of the body would be commanded. Sometimes the prayers were more general. However, this pattern was always the same. 

Harold Weeks, the facilitator, always had books and tapes available on how to heal. My wife and I started borrowing more and more. I started listening to about one tape a day, as I was dressing, eating, or exercising. Becky listened to several each week. I started studying Bible verses, like Mark 16:16-18. It said believers would heal the sick and cast out demons. I read John 14:14. It said that "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." This was good news!! Anyone who was a believer could heal the sick and cast out demons in the name of Jesus!! What a revelation. The church had not shared that secret!! 

After the third meeting, I started to "practice" on myself. I was amazed that my body responded to my own prayers for healing. I had a pain in my ankle. I commanded it to leave, and it did. In watching a videotape by Charles and Frances Hunter, Frances told how she got rid of headaches. I tried it and it worked!! I got rid of headaches three times that week. By the third time, all I had to do was raise my hand towards my head and the pain left. I was learning about spiritual warfare!! 

Yes, I found that some of our "pain" was caused by an evil spirit!! Whoa!! Satan on earth?? Causing me pain?? Yes!! I got rid of my headaches by casting out a demon!! I just said "Out, in the name of Jesus!!" This was another revelation to me. 

In the church, we talked of Heaven and Hell. We talked of God and Satan. Never had I heard that Satan could be alive and well here on earth, causing pain, sorrow and death!! Now, I had firsthand experiences with Satan!! He was real, in my life. I already had the picture that Jesus was a real force in today's world, by the healing. But when I learned that the other side, Satan, was also in today's world, I knew that the Bible, as God's word, was completely true!!

I asked to be baptized by Jesus in the Holy Spirit in the next class. In the September 5, 1997, healing class, another student, Michelle, prayed for me to receive the power of the Holy Spirit. I received it!! Hallelujah!! I don't remember everything about it. Some things I remember, some things my wife told me. In any case, the things told me were consistent with the things that I remembered. (But that is another story.) By the end of the evening, I had started speaking in other tongues, just like it says in Mark 16:17-18!! Believers could do what Jesus said that they would do!! My experiences had proven it to me!! 

By now, I was taking the Bible even more seriously. I started reading and listening to the Bible for specific thing to do and not to do. I redoubled my effort to listen to the tapes of Charles and Francis Hunter and of Derek Prince. Harold said that he was trying not to "overdose" me. I told him that I didn't think that he could!! He still hasn't, and I'm still listening to several tapes a week. Some more than once. Now that I know that this is about either damnation or salvation, I can't afford to be wrong!! I want to spend eternity with Jesus!! I sure don't want to go to Hell!! 

On November 10, 1997, I tried a major healing. I had an enlarged prostate, which was a real problem for me. I was getting up at night 4 and 5 times. It disrupted my sleep. I lost sleep. I had been taking saw palmetto, with good results. However, I was out of pills. I got some more, $60.00 worth. When I got them home, I thought "Why use them when I could just call on the Holy Spirit?" Yes, you guessed it. I prayed that night just before going to sleep. The next morning, I realized that I didn't have to get up during the night to go to the bathroom!! From that day on, I have not had to take any more saw palmetto. I had received 
a major healing by the Holy Spirit answering my prayer, just like it says in John 14:14, quoted above. I, as a believer, had asked, and Jesus sent his Holy Spirit to do the job. Thank you, Jesus!! 

I knew that according to the Bible, I was saved and could expect to go to Heaven when I die. That was because I had received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I knew that, because I had received the Gift of Healing and of tongues. However, I felt that something was lacking. I didn't know what. Hold on, I was about to find out!! 

I was introduced to Ed and Millie Jolley. They have a charismatic ministry at the Hanalei Hotel in San Diego every second and fourth Friday at 7 P.M. My wife and I had started there. On December 12, 1997, the service had great meaning for me as I was delivered from some of Satan's foul forces (but that is another story!!). By the next morning, I started to have a feeling of GREAT JOY surge in my heart. It got greater and greater. On the THIRD DAY, I KNEW IN MY HEART THAT I WAS BORN AGAIN!!! JESUS' POWER AND AUTHORITY IS GREAT!! HALLELUJAH!!! 

At that time, I asked my wife to marry me again. (She has also been born again.) She said YES (Thank you, Jesus)!! I asked our pastor, Neal Keller, to remarry us and re-baptize me as a new man. He said yes. After 35 years of marriage, we were remarried in Jesus Christ!! Hallelujah!! 

Since that time, Becky and I have been so blessed, it is hard to believe. We had started a journal of the blessings and healings early on. It was a good thing. Now, we can read them over and over. We have earnestly prayed to turn control of our lives over to Jesus, to be obedient to Jesus, to tithe, to follow the Commandments, and to use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit freely. I have a peace now that is complete. My fears of death and of the future are gone. I now have, just like the song says, "Blessed Assurance." Hallelujah!! 

In February, 1998, I went in for an annual physical at a Kaiser HMO facility. I was told by the physician that I had a score of "14" on the PSA test. That level had risen from "2.5," about 5 years earlier. The doctor said that there was a good  chance that I had cancer of the prostate. He told me to take a more sensitive test, that he called a 'specific antigen' test. I scheduled the test for a Monday, and before I went in to take it, I went to the Joyous Jolley's services for prayer against that cancer. After receiving prayer on a Friday night, I went in the next Monday morning for the additional test. When I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks, I called the hospital to find out the results. They said that the test was not 'medically significant'!! Thank-you Jesus!! 

If you want more of what Jesus has for you, stick a toe in the water. Want to get rid of PAIN, SUFFERING, FEAR, and SICKNESS?? Like they say on TV, "COME ON DOWN!!" Come to the healing classes on Wednesdays at 7pm, 700 D Ave, Coronado, class room 7 (upstairs in the educational building). WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE (but your pain, suffering, fear, and sickness)??

1. I am now writing at the end of 2001. We all survived the 2000 scares about the end/start of the century! September 11, and the World Trade Towers is behind us. Yes, our God still exists. But bad things will continue to happen as long as people want to do bad thing. God allows humanity free will to reject Jesus and to choose evil. As long as people choose to control their own lives, evil and wrong choices will continue. I have found that it is only when we give up total control over our lives to God, that we receive God's blessings!

This segment is a part of "THE REST of the STORY," to borrow a phrase. Since the initial story of how I came to Christ, the blessings have continued to flow and flow over me, and my wife Becky! This is a segment, because we expect to continue growing in Christ and receiving more and more for God, beyond all our expectations and imagination!

One of the first and best things that occurred is hearing directly from God. Becky and I were very thirsty and decided that we wanted more of God and to know God's will for us with certainty. Hal Weeks suggested we read the book "Hearing God," by Peter Lord. I thought that it was interesting to read about hearing God from a Lord! Becky started reading the book to me (my eyes get tired very easily). By the fourth chapter, I started hearing from God!! Becky started shortly thereafter! Now, when we want to be sure of God's Will for us, we ask Him what to do. We can get confirmation on each other's answers, 
which is wonderful!

By continuing in the healing ministry, we have seen WONDERFUL healings and deliverances, both in our presence and over periods of time. We have seen breast cancer, fibrilating hearts, pain, back neck and hip problems, ankle problems, migraine headaches, rheumatoid arthritis normal sicknesses, depression, fear, anger, addictions, and many other problems healed. By now, we've prayed for the salvation of over 300 people and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit for over 100 persons! Of those who wanted to receive the gift from God of speaking in tongues, 99% now do!

It's very typical that at the end of our prayers for the persons prayed for either have a specific feeling of being healed or a feeling of relief, lightheadedness, weights being lifted, less anxiety and/or greater happiness. Thank you Jesus! 

My wife Becky and I regularly pray at the San Diego Healing Rooms, at 7125 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, 10-3pm Fri and Sat., 619 460 8247, www.sdccm.net/sdhealingrooms. There are now Healing Rooms  all  across the nation,  www.healingrooms.com.  We  also 
regularly pray at the Healing Class, 700 D St, St Paul's United Methodist Church, Coronado, Ca, library room, 7pm on  Wed. evenings,  www.howtoheal.org. It is such a blessing to  us  to see chains broken and freedom for the prisoners!

We have learned that there are hindrances to people receiving the healing, whether physical, emotionally, or spiritually. If we pray for a person and no apparent healing is received, we then reaffirm salvation and the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Then we start to explore unforgiveness, activities in the occult, witchcraft, and Satanism. We often find that after clearing these hindrances, healing then occurs. 

If healing still has not occurred, we investigate demonic influences. Our experience has been that demonic influences of the parents are visited on the children. Traumatic events of childhood, both physical and emotional, open the doors to demonic impact. When we pray against the demonic influences, dramatic events often occur! People become radically changed when the demonic influences are gone! If they were angry or depressed, they become happy. If they were feeling worthless or helpless, they become valuable and in control. If they had compulsions, the compulsions are gone. If there was shame, guilt and/or bitterness, that is gone. Thank you Jesus!

Not all people are healed or delivered. Some are not healed or delivered on the first meeting. Some quit before the process is finished. Some receive the healing over a period of time. We never know what is going to happen, because it is not "us" that is in control. The Holy Spirit is in control. We just act as the "mailman" delivering the "mail," in this case, the healing or deliverance. But we know that God's will is not for people to be in bondage or to be sick. We ask for the Holy Spirit's guidance as long as the people want to be free and continue to seek the freedom. This freedom is for non-Christians, too. But, after experiencing the love and compassion of Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit, and God's mercy, and healing/deliverance, it is hard 
to go back to the old ways. The ways of this world generally lead to hard times and hard feelings. Thank you Jesus for the freedom to love and live in peace, love, joy, and self-control with a sound mind!

I am now 1/2 through seminary. I attend Claremont School of Theology, in Claremont, Ca. It is an United Methodist school. I will graduate in another 1 1/2 years to become a United Methodist Minister. Of course, not all persons who become prayer warriors need to become ministers. It is God's plan for each of us that 
must be fulfilled! Christian warriors are needed in business in homes, and in governmental positions too! 

If you are sick, or know that things are not right in your life, or feel like things bad always happen to you, and you want things to be changed, I encourage you to go to St Paul's Wed. evening class at 7pm. If you can't attend then for some reason, then consider going to one of the Healing Rooms. They normally are open during the day. Don't worry about how good you feel or whether you're looking "presentable." Don't worry about what you may reveal about yourselves or others. Praying time is not a time of judgment or condemnation. It is a time between us and God, a time of triumph over tribulation! It is a time for 
freedom and healing! It is a time for YOU! If you are doubtful and can't really believe that this happens or that it can happen with you, that's ok. Come in anyway. What do you have to loose? We know that if you don't come in, you will keep what you have. You will be left with doctors and drugs and emotional pain. If you come in, you have a chance, an opportunity, for healing! Many times, healing far beyond any healing that the doctor can do and recovery far beyond your prognosis and expectations! Remember that the Bible tells us that God loves you even as you are [no matter how bad you know that you are], and we do too! Thank you Jesus!
