My
name is Rita Rowena. I work at the San Diego Job Corps as a
teacher.
My students are from troubled situations. Some have
no homes or families to go to for help. They live on campus.
It is gated, fenced and guarded. They are not allowed to leave
without a pass. They are tested for drugs prior to coming in
and must sign a contract upon entering to comply, complete their
GED and a vocation. The goal is to help them become employable.
There is much pain and suffering in their lives. Most are very
pleasant. They are between the ages of 16 and 24. I see a lot
of alcohol abuse, drug abuse/addiction, anger. There is tension
between diverse groups. The class room setting calls on them
to be self motivated and focused. In a class room of 12 to 15.
Approximately 5 will be great. Approximately 3 will be horrible,
and the rest unmotivated.
I asked Hal for a Prayer to bind the evil in my class room,
allowing learning to take place. Taking the anger and replacing
it with good. To aid me in communicating and encouraging the
"Trainees." Prior to being given the prayer we say
to open our Sunday School class, I would be met with hostility,
anger, loud boisterous behavior.
Now each morning on my way to school I pray in tongues, as well
as the Prayer given to me by Hal. My classes are responding
well. I have averted physical combat, verbal disputes, and the
overall atmosphere is better, and more conducive to learning.
I wear my cross as a necklace. I truly enjoy these young people.
I appreciate the help Hal has given me through the HOLY SPIRIT.
